My kids love to play games on their Foresight Linux computer, and they got their favorite games + mentioned what games they like.
I wrote before about:
Top 14 Linux first person shooter games
so its time to hit the kid list. The list is based on comments on different sites + the tips from my kids. My kids ages are 3, 7 and 12 years old.
So here is the top 10 games:
Secret Maryo Chronicles is a free, open source style 2D jump and run game, inspired by the Nintendo Super Mario series.
Frozen-Bubble is a clone of the popular “Puzzle Bobble” game, in which you attempt to shoot bubbles into groups of the same color to cause them to pop. It features 100 single-player levels, a two-player mode, music and striking graphics.
3: Monsterz
Monsterz is a little arcade puzzle game, similar to the famous Bejeweled or Zookeeper.
The goal of the game is to create rows of similar monsters, either horizontally or vertically. The only allowed move is the swap of two adjacent monsters, on the condition that it creates a row of three or more. When alignments are cleared, pieces fall from the top of the screen to fill the board again. Chain reactions earn you even more points.
4: Pingus
The player takes command in the game of a bunch of small animals and has to guide them around in levels. Since the animals walk on their own, the player can only influence them by giving them commands, like build a bridge, dig a hole or redirect all animals in the other direction. The goal of each level is to reach the exit, for fix multiple combination of commands are necessary.
Super Mario War is a Super Mario multiplayer game.
The goal is to stomp as many other Marios as possible to win the game.
It’s a tribute to Nintendo and the game Mario War by Samuele Poletto.
6: SuperTux
SuperTux is a classic 2D jump’n run sidescroller game in a style similar to the original SuperMario games.
7: SuperTuxKart
SuperTuxKart is a Free 3d kart racing game; we want to make the game fun more than we want to make it realistic. You can play with up to 4 friends on one PC, racing against each other or just try to beat the computer. (a network multiplayer feature is under development)
8: Acorn Drop
A little Blender game where you are a squirrel and you have to collect Acorns that are falling form the top of the screen.
Live the life of a aspiring gardener on his quest through several highly dynamic environments spanning the world of Jammer T. The aim of the game is to fight off slugs and wasps that are intent on attacking your garden using the colour coded weapons.
10: KTuberling
KTuberling is a “potato editor” game intended for small children and adults who remain young at heart. The game has no winner; the only purpose is to make the funniest faces you can.

Good list!
I am an independent game developer that supports Linux. I develop commercial games specifically for kids. My games run natively on Linux (on nearly any distro), and they use the Bitrock installer so they are easy to install. I also have a growing list of family-friendly commercial Linux games made by other game companies that you can try/purchase through us.
